PreK–K | Nature Unit: Fantastical Creatures
Aims and Goals of the 5-week Curriculum:

Students will explore nature through class discussions, kinetic activities, and visual art-making practices. Students will be introduced to artists whose work references nature as well as work with natural materials in their own art-making. Students will experiment with various processes and mediums including collage, painting, sculpting, and drawing. Students will work collaboratively to strengthen skills and knowledge about art practice, vocabulary, narrative, and structure. Through observation and representational art processes students will learn and play with the elements of nature through art.

Procedure:
1. Carpet time discussion on animals.
2. Students take turns demonstrating
      animal sounds and movements, while all
      students follow along.
3. Students create collages by cutting and
      pasting one animal head and tail on a
      paper, and drawing the hybrid body.
4. Students create animal prints using
      sponge and tempera.
5. Students draw habitat for the fantastical
       creature.
